Bears Lead DAC at Midway Point

DALLAS – Dallas College Brookhaven rolled to another shutout to take a game-and-a-half lead in the Dallas Athletic Conference women's soccer standings at the midway point.

Ranked No. 2 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll, the Bears blanked Dallas College Mountain View 3-0 Tuesday to complete the first round of DAC play. It was Brookhaven's sixth straight shutout.

The Bears sit atop the conference with a 7-1-2 overall, 5-0 DAC record. Mountain View fell to 3-3, 2-3.

Emma Stewart scored a pair of goals, and had an assist. Ariana Chavira had a goal, Daniela Bravo recorded two assists, and Addison Hanner had one assist.

Stewart scored the gamewinner in the 13th minute on an unassisted goal. Eight minutes later, she scored her second goal to make it 2-0. Chavira's goal came in the 56th minute.

Miranda Estrada made one save in goal.

The Bears attempted nine shots in each half, putting 12 of their 18 on goal.

Brookhaven will host Dallas College North Lake (0-6-3, 0-2-3) to begin the second half of conference play 6 p.m. Friday.
