Austin Collects DAC Weekly Honor

Dallas College Brookhaven's Ariel Austin and Dallas College North Lake's Brianna McClure have been named the Dallas Athletic Conference volleyball Players of the Week.

Austin, a freshman outside hitter from North Crowley, Texas, collected the league's offensive award. She banged 15 kills, and posted a pair of double-doubles in a pair of wins last week. Austin had 15 kills, 18 digs and two block assists in a thrilling five-set win at Dallas College Cedar Valley that gave the Bears a one-match lead at the midway point of the league race. Austin followed that up with 15 kills, 17 digs, an ace and two block assists in a sweep of North Lake.

McClure, a freshman setter from Odessa, Texas, had 56 digs and 10 blocks last week as North Lake went 1-2. McClure also had 56 assists in the week. She had 25 digs, five blocks, 27 assists and six kills in a five-set win over Dallas College Eastfield.

Brookhaven (17-9, 6-0 DAC) plays at Dallas College Eastfield 6 p.m. Monday, and hosts Dallas College Mountain View 6 p.m. Thursday.

North Lake (5-19, 1-5 DAC) plays at Dallas College Richland 6 p.m. Monday and 6 p.m. Thursday at home against Cedar Valley before hosting Ranger College 2 p.m. Friday in a non-conference match.
