Brookhaven Volleyball Takes 4-0 DAC Record into Monday Meeting at Cedar Valley

Dallas College Brookhaven, ranked seventh in the NJCAA Division III poll, take an unbeaten record into Monday's tilt at Dallas College Cedar Valley, which is also 4-0 in league play.

Dallas College Brookhaven's No. 7-ranked volleyball team remained perfect in the Dallas Athletic Conference, following Thursday night's four-set win over Dallas College Richland, winning 20-25, 25-15, 25-12, 25-14 at home.

The Bears, who hold the national ranking in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll, have won seven straight matches, and share the top spot in the conference with Dallas College Cedar Valley entering Monday's tilt between the two schools. Both teams sport unblemished records going into the final match of the first half of conference play.

Brookhaven (15-9, 4-0 DAC) dropped both regular season matches to Cedar Valley (10-14, 4-0) last season before beating the Suns in the postseason.

The Bears have won each of their last six matches this season in four sets or less, and recorded three straight shutouts during that time.

Through 22 matches, Ariel Austin, a two-time DAC Offensive Player of the Week, led the Bears with 351 kills, and had 295 digs. Kelsey Trevino had 187 kills and 246 digs. Jadyn Ketner had 437 digs and 44 aces. Camryn Dawley's 51 aces and 461 assists were tops on the team through last Thursday's Dallas College Eastfield match. She also had 263 digs. Cearria Traylor had 114 blocks, while Asia Salter had 68.

Brookhaven leads the nation in blocks (240), while Austin is the nation's leader in kills with 351. Cearria Traylor leads the NJCAA DIII in blocks with 114. Cedar Valley's Laila Beck is sixth in the country in blocks with 62.

Brookhaven's first serve at Cedar Valley Monday is set for 6 p.m.
