Brookhaven Women's Soccer Begins DAC Title Defense Aug. 20
FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Dallas College Brookhaven women's soccer team will prepare to defend its nine-year standing conference championship reign when the Bears open the season Thursday, Aug. 20 against Jones College.
Brookhaven, which has won the last nine Dallas Athletic Conference and Metro Athletic Conference regular season titles, will play eight home games – the second against Holmes Community College two days after the season opener. Last year's national runner-up under third-year head coach Alex Denning, Brookhaven heads on the road for the first time Aug. 28 at Western Texas College. It is the Bears' only nonconference road game this season.
The Bears, who return eight players from last year's 16-2-2 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III runner-up team, then begin a four-game homestand, which will also kick off the start of conference play. Southwestern Christian College, Ranger College DAC foes Dallas College North Lake and Dallas College Eastfield visit the Bears' field Sept. 2-15 in four straight night games.
Brookhaven's first road conference game is set for Sept. 18 at Dallas College Cedar Valley. The Bears complete the first round of league play with a road game at four-time DAC runner-up Dallas College Richland Sept. 25 and against Dallas College Mountain View Sept. 29.
The second round of league play begins Thursday, Oct. 1 at North Lake. The following Tuesday marks the final nonconference game for the Bears when Cisco College comes to Farmers Branch. After a road game at Eastfield Oct. 9, the Bears host Cedar Valley and Richland in their final regular season home games Oct. 13 and 16, respectively. The regular season finale is Oct. 20 at Mountain View.
The NJCAA Division III South District Tournament will be held at the site of the regular season champion.
