Women's Soccer Honored with Championship Rings

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Dallas College Brookhaven women's soccer team honored its 2022 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III National Championship team at a ring ceremony.

The Bears repeated as national champs in the fall, going 16-0-1. Brookhaven beat Mohawk Valley Community College, 2-1, in the national title game.

"This ring ceremony was probably one of the best we've ever had," Bears assistant coach Robert Williams said. "The very first one will always be the most special, but for this one, we had the opportunity to celebrate the team winning its first ever back-to-back national championship."

Players were presented with their championship rings, and individual awards were given to the student-athletes. Whitni Newbill and Bailey Clark were honored as First Team All-Americans. Hayli Nichols was honored as a Second Team All-American. All-Dallas Athletic Conference honors were also celebrated.

"The rings are absolutely beautiful, and the look in the players' eyes when they received them was even better," Williams said. "This group of young ladies fought through a lot of adversity this season. Between work, school, injuries and a tough preseason, it was amazing to see them end the season on top. To start as No. 1 and finish as No. 11 is no easy feat. So I applaud them for that."

Brookhaven's sophomore class put together a 34-1-1 record over the back-to-back championship campaigns.

"For the sophomores that are leaving, they achieved history, and we are forever indebted to them," Williams said. "For the ones returning, they have a chance of a three-peat for Brookhaven. I'm excited for next season, and I can't wait to get started."
