Bears Collect League Honors for 5th Straight Week

Dallas College Brookhaven's Meleni Lorenzo and Ivelyn Jimenez were named Dallas Athletic Conference women's soccer Players of the Week.

Dallas College Brookhaven women's soccer's Meleni Lorenzo and Ivelyn Jimenez were named the Dallas Athletic Conference Players of the Week.

Lorenzo, a freshman forward from Fort Worth, Texas, scored three goals and had one assist to earn the league's offensive weekly award as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III No. 1-ranked Bears won both games last week. Jimenez, a sophomore defender from Denton, Texas, claimed the DAC defensive honor.

Lorenzo scored two goals, and had an assist in a 7-0 win over Dallas College Cedar Valley. She also had a goal against Dallas College Mountain View.

Lorenzo has six goals and seven assists this season for 19 points.

Jimenez contributed to both of the shutouts last week as the Bears kept the sheet clean for the eighth straight game. She helped key a back line that allowed only one shot in the two victories.

Brookhaven (10-0-1, 8-0-1 DAC) will host Dallas College Eastfield on Sophomore Night Tuesday at 6 p.m. to conclude the regular season.
