Clark, Newbill Named DAC Players of Week

Bailey Clark and Whitni Newbill of Dallas College Brookhaven were named the Dallas Athletic Conference women's soccer Players of the Week.

Dallas College Brookhaven's Whitni Newbill and Bailey Clark have been chosen as the Dallas Athletic Conference women's soccer Players of the Week.

Newbill, a freshman forward from Austin, Texas, earned the league's offensive award. She scored the game winning goal in a 1-0 win over National Junior College Athletic Association Division III No. 4 Dallas College Richland to give the top-ranked Bears a one-game cushion in the DAC race. Newbill also had a goal in a 3-0 win over Dallas College North Lake.

Newbill has nine goals and 22 points entering Tuesday's 4 p.m. home match against Dallas College Cedar Valley.

Clark, a freshman defender from Corinth, Texas, earned the league's defensive award. She played a key role in the Bears' two shutout wins last week. Her contributions have helped Brookhaven (8-0-1, 6-0-1 DAC) post six straight clean sheets. Clark also recorded her first career assist in the win over North Lake, lending a helper to Newbill in the 70th minute.

Following Tuesday's game with Cedar Valley, Brookhaven will play at Dallas College Mountain View 6 p.m. Friday.
