Clark, Newbill Named DAC Players of Week

Dallas College Brookhaven's Whitni Newbill and Bailey Clark have been chosen as the Dallas Athletic Conference women's soccer Players of the Week.

Newbill, a freshman forward from Austin, Texas, earned the league's offensive award. She scored the game winning goal in a 1-0 win over National Junior College Athletic Association Division III No. 4 Dallas College Richland to give the top-ranked Bears a one-game cushion in the DAC race. Newbill also had a goal in a 3-0 win over Dallas College North Lake.

Newbill has nine goals and 22 points entering Tuesday's 4 p.m. home match against Dallas College Cedar Valley.

Clark, a freshman defender from Corinth, Texas, earned the league's defensive award. She played a key role in the Bears' two shutout wins last week. Her contributions have helped Brookhaven (8-0-1, 6-0-1 DAC) post six straight clean sheets. Clark also recorded her first career assist in the win over North Lake, lending a helper to Newbill in the 70^th minute.

Following Tuesday's game with Cedar Valley, Brookhaven will play at Dallas College Mountain View 6 p.m. Friday.
