Bio

Chris McGill enters his ninth season as the head men’s basketball coach at Dallas College Brookhaven in 2025-26.

Since taking over the program at Brookhaven in 2017, he has coached multiple All-Conference and All-Region players at his alma mater.

Before becoming the Bears’ head coach, McGill was the head coach for Murray State College from 2013-17. There he helped multiple Aggies players move on to four-year colleges or universities at all different levels, from NCAA Division I, II and III, as well as NAIA institutions.

McGill was the associate head coach at Southeastern Oklahoma State University from 2010-13. His responsibilities at Southeastern Oklahoma State included recruiting, on-floor coaching, scouting, strength and conditioning and academic monitoring. While at Southeastern, he coached multiple All-Conference players and one who played professionally overseas.

Prior to Southeastern Oklahoma State, McGill spent five years as the assistant head coach at Missouri Valley College. During his time at Missouri Valley, McGill helped coach 13 players who earned All-Conference or All-Region accolades and one All-American.

Preceding his time at Missouri Valley College, McGill spent two seasons at his four-year alma mater, New Mexico Highlands University, as a graduate assistant coach for the Cowboys from 2003-05. McGill learned and assisted in all facets of college coaching. In the 2004-05 season, the team finished with a winning record for the first time in eight years, and advanced in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament. While there at Highlands, McGill helped coach two All-RMAC players, with one earning All-American Honorable Mention.

McGill started his coaching career at Brookhaven in 2001, serving as a volunteer assistant for two years.

McGill played a year at Brookhaven before moving on to New Mexico Highlands, where he was a starter and co-Captain for the Cowboys.

He graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in human performance & sport from New Mexico Highlands University. He earned a Master of Arts degree in human performance & sport with an emphasis in administration in 2004 from New Mexico Highlands.

McGill lives in Plano, Texas with his wife, Courtney, and their two children, Colin and Sydney.
