DALLAS – Dallas College Brookhaven men's basketball team won its third straight game, beating host Dallas College Mountain View, 98-81, Wednesday.
The win wrapped up the first half of Dallas Athletic Conference play. Brookhaven (9-12 overall, 4-1 DAC) sits in second place in the six-team Dallas College league with five games to play.
Bears forward Jackson Lino scored a season-high 25 points, and grabbed eight rebounds. He was 10 of 13 from the floor. It was the third straight game he's scored over 20 points, including two games this week. Lino had 23 points in Monday's win over Dallas College Cedar Valley.
Forward Jesse Klein had 16 points, going 6 of 9 from the field. He buried all three of his triple tries. Guard Aaron Ovalle finished with 15 points and a season-high 10 assists. Guard Ryan Nurenberg had 13 points, seven assists and three steals. Guard Curtis Trey Moffett and forward Andre Mancilla each scored nine points, and combined for 10 rebounds and eight assists. Skylar McCurry had seven points and four assists, making all three of his field goals.
Brookhaven, which led by six at halftime, had a season-best 34 assists.
Mountain View (14-9, 0-5) was paced by Farai Mandhlazi's 21 points and nine rebounds. Devion Randle had 13 points and four assists. Justice Marmara finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Johnny DeWalt had 10 points, nine boards and two blocks. Jezrael De Jesus Fargas added nine points.
The Bears outrebounded the Lions, 34-31. Both teams each had committed turnovers.
Brookhaven shot 65.5 percent, while Mountain View connected on 43.5 percent of its field goal attempts. It was the best shooting performance in league play for the Bears this season. Brookhaven shot 67.6 percent in the season-opening win over Tribulation Prep on Nov. 2.
The Bears canned 10 of 17 three-pointers. It was the third time this season they've hit at least 10 triples in a game.
Winners of five of its past six, Brookhaven will begin the second half of conference play at Dallas College Richland 1 p.m. Saturday. Mountain View hosts Dallas College North Lake.
