Mixon Chosen as NJCAA DIII Pitcher of Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Dallas College Brookhaven's Clayten Mixon was selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Pitcher of the Week.
A freshman right-hander from Baytown, Texas, Mixen went 1-0 without allowing an earned run in eight innings on the bump. He appeared in two games the Bears went 1-1, allowing a run, a hit and a walk, while striking out four. Mixon went six innings in a 4-1 victory at NJCAA Division I Paris Junior College, allowing a hit, a run and a walk, and fanned three. In two innings of work in a 7-0 loss to Frank Phillips College, he had one strikeout without surrendering a hit, run or walk to keep the game scoreless through the first two frames.
Mixon is 2-0 with a 4.64 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 21.1 innings pitched this season.
The Bears opened Dallas Athletic Conference play Wednesday.
