Bears Duo Claim DAC Players of Week
IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Brookhaven's Philip Orr and Clayten Mixon were selected as the Dallas Athletic Conference Baseball Players of the Week.
Orr, a freshman outfielder from The Woodlands, Texas, received the league's Player of the Week, while Mixon, a freshman from Baytown, Texas, won the Pitcher of the Week honor.
Orr batted .500, going 6-for-12 with a double, an RBI, four runs scored, four walks and four stolen bases as the Bears went 4-1 last week. He had two hits in a 4-1 win at Paris Junior College. He was 2-for-2 with two stolen bases in a 4-3 victory over Frank Phillips College.
Orr is batting .467 with 10 RBI and 10 stolen bases this season.
Mixen went 1-0, tossing eight innings of shutout ball in two appearances. The Bears went 1-1 in his two appearances, where he did not allow an earned run, gave up one hit, struck out four and walked one batter.
Mixen is 2-0 with a 4.64 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 21 1/3 innings this season.
Brookhaven (10-7) hosts Seminole State College 1 p.m. Monday in the final nonconference game before DAC play begins Wednesday against Dallas College North Lake.
