Baseball Opens League Play Wednesday
Dallas College Brookhaven's baseball team will begin Dallas Athletic Conference play at noon Wednesday when the Bears visit Dallas College Richland.
Brookhaven (2-12) will host the Thunderducks for the final two games of the opening week of league play when the series shifts to Farmers Branch for a pair of 12 p.m. contests Friday and Saturday.
Tucker Simpson is hitting .333 with four doubles, a triple, a home run and seven runs batted in for the Bears. Ray Jaramillo is batting .324 with four doubles and six RBI. Joseph Jaco has a .323 average with two doubles and six RBI. Peyton Starr is batting .316 with a team-leading four homers, two doubles and 12 RBI. Deven Kirtley is hitting .289 with a home run, four doubles and 11 RBI. Jacob Scott has two home runs in his 11 at-bats, and is hitting .364.
Jacob Christian is 1-1 on the mound with five strikeouts in four innings pitched. Trent Corley is 1-0 in his lone appearance – a four-inning relief effort at North Central Texas College.
Brookhaven beat Dallas Fort Worth Post Grad, 12-6, last week before suffering a pair of one-run losses to National Junior College Athletic Association Division I ball clubs, Alvin Community College and Coastal Bend College, at the Island Invitational in Southeast Texas.
